Lack Of Available Quality Listings For Parkland and South Florida Homebuyers

parkland-realtor-michael-citron-quoted-in-pressI was recently quoted in the Sun-Sentinel article, Homebuyers still frustrated by lack of quality listings, describing how many homebuyers are frustrated during the buying process in Parkland and South Florida.  This year was supposed to be the year that more listings would be available for sale, as the real estate home market has made a comeback!  Unfortunately for buyers, there are not many quality listings for sale, as we get into the Summer selling season! According to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Board Of Realtors, there were 5,773 active Broward County single-family listings in April, which is a 41% increase from last year. However, the homes in the most desirable communities remain scarce.  Many homes for sale are either overpriced or not in great condition, which leaves potential home buyers unhappy with the overall product on the market for sale.

My team and I were personally working with a home buyer that  looked at over 50 homes until finally finding the right home that met the their family’s purchasing criteria.  Unfortunately, with the increase in overall inventory, there are some bad apples out there for sale.  Some sellers are sticking to their already overpriced asking prices or are not taking care of  issues with their homes.  Buyers will NOT make offers, or pay premiums, on homes that they either find overpriced or that carry issues.  I also believe that there are many sellers, that could not sell just a couple years ago, trying to sell for crazy high asking prices.

I believe that more home sellers will be putting their houses on the market for sale in Parkland and South Florida, as the hot Summer selling season has just arrived!  But, until more sellers with favorable listings enter the market, buyers will really have to fight to get the house they truly want.
