The holiday season is fast-approaching, and so many potential buyers and sellers think that it is not a good time to buy or sell a homes. Now, I truly understand that the holidays are a very important time to spend with family. However, that NOW is unlike any other time for both real estate buyers and sellers. Below, please find reasons why both buyers and sellers should consider making a move now:
BUYERS: If buyers choose to wait until the Spring or Summer, two major factors that impact the buying process include the rise in mortgage interest rates and the increase in home prices. Home prices are expected to increase by another 4-5% in 2014. Financial experts also project mortgage interest rates should increase by 1% in 2014. As a result, if buyers want to get a better deal on homes, they should act now and be active buyers during the holidays.
SELLERS: Sellers will receive the highest prices, when demand is high, and the overall home inventory is low. In 2014, demand will continue to remain strong during the winter months, while the available home inventory will shrink. If sellers wait until the Spring and Summer months, they may sell for more money, but in the end, will spend more when purchasing a new home. The mortgage interest rate increases will also cause them to actually pay more for homes by waiting until later in the year than acting now!
