Should Parkland Home Sellers Pay Full Real Estate Commission To Agents?

Parkland Real Estate Expert Michael Citron Quoted In Sun-Sentinel Article On Real Estate Commissions

parkland-real-estate-commissionWith the recent increase in home values and lack of home inventory in Parkland and the rest of South Florida, should home sellers still be paying a full sales commissions to real estate agents?  I was recently quoted in the Sun-Sentinel article entitled   Agents put off by reduced commissions, where the article discusses the real estate commission in today’s market.

When asked about sellers reducing the commission offered to both the listing agent and selling agent, I responded by stating that, “A reduced commission is a red flag that a homeowner may not be financially ready to sell.”  Sellers may not have enough equity in their homes after real estate fees to break even or make a profit.  As a result, they are trying to cut corners.

In a recovering real estate market, sellers may think that they will pocket more money by offering less commission to their listing agent and the buyers’ agent.  Unfortunately, the old saying of you get what you pay for resonates in the real estate business.  By accepting less commission, selling agents may not be able to afford to fully advertise homes to potential buyers or be as accessible to the sellers.  Also, by only offering less commission, buyers’ agents may not even show these homes to their qualified home buyers.  To read the full Sun-Sentinel article that I was quoted in, please click: Agents put off by reduced commissions

My real estate team and I always profess that selling one of, if not, your largest financial asset is extremely important.  All potential sellers should list with a full-service real estate team in order to fully market and negotiate the best price and terms.  In my experience, it ends up costing sellers more money when they do not hire a full-service, expert local real estate agent.  Think about the times when you had to see a doctor or lawyer.  Did you hire a discount physician or attorney to help you?   Also, the selling and buying process has changed in recent years along with the banking loan requirements.  Align yourself with a dedicated and seasoned professional that knows how the selling and buying process works in today’s real estate market.  I promise that you will get what you pay for and more!  If you are looking for a top real estate professional, please give me a call directly at: 954-609-0591 for all of your real estate needs.  I would love the opportunity of earning your business.
