City of Parkland Awarded Top Honors For Kids Fitness

city-of-parkland-recreation

Another great reason to live in Parkland is the fantastic parks and recreational activities residents and their families can enjoy!  Today, many children do not get enough physical activity which has caused a growing number of child obesity in the United States.

Fortunately, the City of Parkland has taken giant leaps to combat this growing problem in our local area.  As a result, Let’s Go Play! Non-Profit Organization KaBOOM has names Parkland as one of only 118 “Playful City USA” Communities for the third straight year.  According to KaBOOM and a study conducted by Harris Interactive, 82% of parents believe children do not receive enough exercise.  Also, the National Survey of Children’s Health reports that 1/3 of all U.S. children are overweight or obese.  This shocking survey and statistic should cause parents to immediately take action and get their children involved in outdoor fitness activities.

Unfortunately, many parents have forgotten how important it is for children to play outside and stay fit.  Playing outside and getting involved with recreational activities also helps provide the youth with social skills needed to succeed in the future.  Also, providing children with more time to play will allow them to become healthier and happier and perform better in school.

Below, please find all of the Parkland Parks & Recreational Centers:

As we start a new school year, we urge Parkland parents to encourage their children to participate in outdoor recreational activities in their schools and city.

Finally A Resolution For Parkland Coyotes?

City of Parkland Hires Trapper To Catch Coyotes

The City of Parkland announced yesterday that the city has hired a trapper in order to finally catch the coyotes that are killing live stock and pets in non-gated Parkland neighborhoods: Cypress Head, BBB Rances, and Pine Tree Estates.

The trapper will identify the location of the coyotes and set traps that will be checked on a daily basis.  The trapper will begin setting traps on Monday and continue for a two-week period.  Hopefully, now that a professional trapper has been hired, the coyote problem will be rectified!  But, the city still recommends that all Parkland residents in the above mentioned communities be vigilant and avoid items that will attract the coyotes to their properties.  Hopefully, the trapper will be able to relocate the coyotes away from residential communities soon.

Parkland Coyote Ugly Continues

We recently posted a story on our site: Coyotes Spotted In The City of Parkland Florida that received a lot of attention.  One concerned reader, Stephanie Lavender, responded to our article how coyotes are “elusive creatures that only kill when hungry and don’t attack unless attacked.”

Lavender is also upset how the media is spreading “unnecessary fear” to the Parkland residents, especially located in Pine Tree Estates and BBB Ranches, which are both located in non-gated acreage communities where the attacks have been recorded.

Obviously, the Parkland Coyote topic is of concern for many residents and the City of Parkland, which is meeting to address this problem, as more and more animal attacks and deaths are being reported.

Below, please click on WSVN7’s video report, Coyotes have [Parkland] animal owners on edge:

We are animal lovers, like Lavender, but want to make sure to keep the Parkland residents and their pets and livestock safe from all predators, including coyotes.  We again ask all Parkland residents located in the acreage communities to make sure to keep pets and children, inside after dark.

One of the great features of living in the City of Parkland is  coexisting with Mother Nature.  But, live stock and pets have been killed by coyotes.  As a result, it is up to Parkland residents to be cautious and on the look out for coyotes until this problem is solved.

Coyotes Spotted In The City of Parkland Florida

CityofParkland.org reported earlier today that there has been numerous sightings of coyotes in Parkland.  Some residents have confused these animals for cougars.

Please be aware that coyotes are wild animals and can be highly dangerous to you and your family.  The City of Parkland has notified the Broward County Animal Control in order to address this issue.  If you see a coyote on your property, please call the police immediately and make sure your entire family goes inside of your home.

parkland-parrot-real-estate-team

The Parkland Parrot Real Estate Team would like to thank the City of Parkland for allowing us to sponsor the Annual Egg Hunt event last weekend at Terramar Park.  It was very enjoyable for us to see all of the families that came out to this popular city event.  We hired Bobby The Balloon Maker, which was a huge hit with the children and parents.  Some people even waited over an hour to get balloons designed by Bobby.

Families also enjoyed the egg hunt, where there were over 20,000 eggs given to eager Parkland children.  The Parkland Bunny also made a guest appearance and took pictures with all of the families! The children also enjoyed three bounce houses, a petting zoo, and cookies and other refreshments.
