Parkland Becomes 1st Broward City To Ban Text Messaging While Driving
Parkland Drivers Under The Influence Of Texting
Last night, the Parkland City Commission unanimously voted to make it illegal for text message while driving in the city. Fine will be $100.00. Parkland now becomes the first Broward County city to enact this law, but many cities will follow as text messaging has become so dangerous.
I wrote an earlier article, Banning Text Messaging While Driving In Parkland, referencing how over 66% of drivers between the ages of 16-24 text message while behind the wheel. With so many young drivers on our Parkland roads, it is imperative that residents become more aware of this growing problem! I applaud our city for being one of the first of many cities to enact this law to protect our neighbors.

The ordinance already passed on its first reading and will soon become law after a second discussion at the next City Commissions’s meeting schedule for October 7th. The fine could be from $100 to $250.
