Parkland Terramar Park – A Place To Play For Every Parkland Resident
Parkland Terramar Park
When a city visualizes a park for all of its residents to come to relax and play, Terramar Park is the byproduct of this picture. Terramar Park hosts most of the city’s baseball, flag football, soccer, and tennis programs. As a result of all of these leagues, your children will certainly find their way to this stunning park of 50.1 acres.
But, Terramar Park at Parkland is not just designated for children. With over 1.17 miles of jogging trails, and paved biking paths and open areas, all Parkland residents can enjoy the best of Terramar Park. Families can come and enjoy picnics, parties, and other get-togethers. The park also hosts yearly events such as the Parkland Fishing Derby in one of the two Terramar Park lakes. Many concerts and events, such as SnowFest in February, take place at Terramar Park during the year.
The park also has its own City Tennis Center and Pro Shop. The Tennis Center aspires to be a world class facility with expert tennis pros to teach and help master Parkland residents’ tennis skills. Other park amenities include:
- 4 Baseball Fields (lighted)
- 2 Softball Fields (lighted)
- 7 Tennis Courts and pro shop (lighted)
- 4 Multi-Purpose Fields For Football, Soccer & Lacrosse (lighted)
- 5 Basketball Courts (lighted)
- 3 Playgrounds
- 5 Picnic Pavilions

FEMA Emergency Assistance To Chinese Drywall Victims?
More possible good news for potential Parkland homeowners affected by Chinese Drywall.
Florida Senator Bill Nelson is heading up the efforts to ask FEMA for emergency assistance and rental funds for homeowners without insurance coverage to help deal with the Chinese Drywall problem.
Many homeowners are complaining of breathing difficulties and stating that the problem is getting worse, not better. Many homeowners thought that they were living the “American Dream.” Unfortunately, their dreams were shattered by Chinese Drywall.
Hopefully FEMA will help aide many Florida homeowners coping with this very difficult situation. Recently, I wrote an article, Finally Good News For WCI Homeowners With Chinese Drywall, showing how WCI Communities recently emerged from bankruptcy protection and has an estimated 11 million dollars set aside to deal with this issue.
Parkland Chinese Drywall Task Force Established to conduct surveys in order to document how many homeowners have been affected by Chinese Drywall. Hopefully, with the help of FEMA, homeowners can take steps closer to breathing a little better and receive the much needed relief.

Parkland Becomes 1st Broward City To Ban Text Messaging While Driving
Parkland Drivers Under The Influence Of Texting
Last night, the Parkland City Commission unanimously voted to make it illegal for text message while driving in the city. Fine will be $100.00. Parkland now becomes the first Broward County city to enact this law, but many cities will follow as text messaging has become so dangerous.
I wrote an earlier article, Banning Text Messaging While Driving In Parkland, referencing how over 66% of drivers between the ages of 16-24 text message while behind the wheel. With so many young drivers on our Parkland roads, it is imperative that residents become more aware of this growing problem! I applaud our city for being one of the first of many cities to enact this law to protect our neighbors.

Banning Text Messaging While Driving In Parkland

Calling All Cars! Accident recorded on Holmberg Road & Just West of 441. Injuries Unknown … Cause Of Accident Texting While Driving!
Silence Your Phone, Not Your Life!
According to a recent U.S. News & World Report article, 20% of people are sending text messages while driving. The percentages skyrocket to 66% in drivers between the ages 16-24. At least 16 states are considering legislation to ban text messaging while behind the wheel.
The City of Parkland’s Mayor Michael Udine, with the inspiration from: TTYL (Talk to you later) Inc., a group comprised of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School sophomores, is one step closer to enacting a law banning the use of cell phone text messaging while driving. The ordinance already passed on its first reading and will soon become law after a second discussion at the next City Commissions’s meeting schedule for October 7th. The fine could be from $100 to $250.
Let’s seriously put the cell phones down while driving. With many narrow streets in our city, all Parkland drivers need to stay focused on the roads. Or else, your teenager could be the next victim!

Finally Good News For WCI Homeowners With Chinese Drywall

parkland golf and country club real estate
WCI Communities is scheduled to emerge from bankruptcy protection, which is great news from WCI community residents with Chinese Drywall. WCI Communities will now setup a trust account to deal with the many Parkland homeowners affected by Chinese Drywall in their homes.
Finally, these residents will be able to receive relief from WCI Communities, who did not have to address the Chinese Drywall problem because the company was protected under the bankruptcy laws.

The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports, “In January, WCI said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it was setting aside $11 million for homes that needed air conditioning coil replacement, “which may or may not be related to the Chinese drywall.”
According to the Sun-Sentinel, WCI Communities stated in court documents at least 200 WCI built homes had defective drywall. Parkland Golf & Country Club and some communities in Heron Bay were the two major areas in Broward County affected with Chinese Drywall.
I wrote an earlier article: Parkland Chinese Drywall Task Force where the City of Parkland has setup a task force to deal with this direct issue. Let’s see how the city responds to this news from WCI Communities.
WCI Communities also stated that affected homeowners must file claims. I strongly recommend that Parkland residents with Chinese Drywall in their homes consult with a local attorney.
